“Integration and Empowerment of Minority Children and Youth
 in Serbia and Albania”

 

CCF Kinderhilfswerk, Pomoć deci, Edukativni centar Roma and Fondi Kristian i Fëmijëve Shqipëri, (CCF Albania) are realizing program of European Union EIDHR funded three-year project (starting from 1.1.2006.) in Serbia and Montenegro and Albania.

The project aims are to integrate ethnic minority children and youth into the mainstream societies of Serbia and Albania through activities that uphold their rights and encourages a more equitable, sustainable and secure future for them. In Serbia, the project are implementing in the northen Serbia- Vojvodina: Subotica, Novi Sad, Sombor and Ada  where Roma, Croat, Hungarian, Bunjevci, Slovak, and Romanian ethnic minorities live.

The project will increase the capacity, skills, and participation of ethnic minority individuals and communities in four districts in Albania and four multi-ethnic municipalities and youth NGOs in Serbia in their understanding, promotion and protection of their rights in their communities and at the local government level.  The target group will be ethnic minority and majority children, youth and parents who, through training, support and empowerment will advocate and lobby for their rights and community needs. The main activities will include birth registration, campaign to enrol minority children into school, training of children and youth as peer educators in civil rights, the democratic process, and promotion of children’s rights.

Training, joint workshops, small project initiatives, exhibitions and awareness campaigns, will empower individuals and ethnic-minority NGOs to represent their communities to others, decrease discrimination and promote their integration into the community.
